If I could meet anyone, dead or alive...

If I could meet anyone, dead or alive, it would without a doubt be David Bowie.

David Bowie was a Glam Rock artist and will always be a huge inspiration to me. It's hardly news that he has created some of the best music of all time. There are so many

reasons to adore Bowie, I've pointed out a few of the

biggest ones to me personally below.

Creativity

Bowie's most recognisable trait is how creative he was. Not only has he made incredible music but he created crazy characters too. He kick started his own career. The man brought male make up into fashion and showed the World you can wear what you want, be whoever you want to be and just own it.

How he got his career going

Bowies carrier didn't exactly take off with flying colours in the beginning but this didn't discourage him, he set out to make his dreams come true.

The amazing thing about him is the determination he demonstrated to do anything in order to get his career going. He flew to America with his manager and spread the word that he was a huge success in the UK. This of course made him popular in America and then later on in the UK as well. A clever plan that was well executed.

It's a shame that modern artists can't follow the same path with the internet being such a huge part of a musicians start up these days.

But they do say "Fake it till you make it", obviously it works.

His characters

He really got into his music, changing characters for each album. Along with that he was also a main character in one of my childhood fave films; The Labyrinth. Reality defined no boundaries for him, he turned himself into whoever he desired to be at the time.

My Favourite song

This is not an easy answer! But my all time favourite has got to be 'Life on Mars'. The lyrics are so cryptic and without having ever seen a music video to go along with the song, I can still picture so much in my head just from how Bowie paints his lyrics.

My runners up are 'Just Dance' and 'Ashes to Ashes'. - It's just so hard to choose!

Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes

The lyrics from the song Life on Mars go as follows;

"Take a look at the lawman Beating up the wrong guy Oh man, wonder if he'll ever know He's in the best selling show Is there life on Mars?"

The TV series 'Life on Mars' is about police officers back in the 70s, always catching the wrong people to begin with. I don't know if somebody came up with the idea for the series whilst listening to those lyrics and that's why they chose to give the series the same name as the song. But I love how it slots together either way. There are various David Bowie songs featured in the show and in the follow up series 'Ashes to Ashes', set in the 80s, it includes a clown that was a character Bowie created. I absolutely love both of the series and watching them made me rate Bowie even more. They also made me think that I was definitely born in the wrong decade.

If I could ask him one question...

I'd probably have to turn the conversation quite deep and simply ask him "How do you see the World?" or something along those lines. Bowie was clearly a man of vision with a passion for everything around him. I would love to see the World through his eyes for a day and see what would inspire me.

would want to meet, dead or alive. I

might end up doing a post on my favourite

things about them too.

Peace out for now,
